I recently started riding, so I got a cheap Bluetooth device to go with my friend's. Although it worked fine alone, the intercom was not loud enough, and it was quite challenging to connect up numerous riders. When my wife joined me in the car, the noise from the engine made it difficult for us to communicate. I actually desired anything that wasn't all that expensive but was lot louder with intercom. After conducting a ton of research, I chose this as a replacement. It cost just a little bit more than my previous inexpensive device and came as a pair, which sounded like a nice deal. In fact, it was. I honestly simply wanted something, not something that sounded beautiful with music.

Before posting a review, I wanted to give the unit some more time. My ancient Scala Q2 would not connect to any of the newer phones. Since I required at least three units, the cost of the Sena units and the more recent models was exorbitant. I still have an iPod, so all I really needed was the intercom, phone connection, and wired connection. I chose to test these because they were among the few units with a wired connection. In actuality, I placed two orders. The second was the most recent remodel, and the first was an earlier one. The button layout of the new design was unquestionably better. Though it doesn't clamp the unit as well as I would want, the mount is a little more stronger on the helmet. The redundant system of the Scala unit was provided by a positive lock and a slide-on rail attachment. Though it hasn't caused any problems thus far, this one just has a clip in system. My main grievance with the Scala was its poor sound quality. I use earplugs while I ride, and the Scala unit was hardly audible.

I purchased this device to mount on my full face helmet so that I could accept calls and listen to music while riding. It really astonished me to learn that this comes with TWO full setups, which is excellent because my spouse also required one. Although I do have to concur with other evaluations on this site regarding speaker location, the installation was quite simple. Finding the ideal place to stick them did take some time, but it was definitely worth the effort once I did. The volume and clarity are terrible if the speakers are not positioned roughly in the middle of your ear. When positioned properly, these small speakers provide surprisingly high-quality sound. Enough clarity and not too much treble to allow you to enjoy your music even when driving at high speeds. They are a little bit further back than I would like due to the configuration of my helmet, but it hasn't bothered me or affected the loudness or quality of the music. I adore that the kit includes two microphone configurations for various helmet styles. Though I haven't used it, the call clarity seems to be good.
